My name is Megan, I have been running a slow fashion brand called Trouser Project since 2018. I started with a small shop in Manchester, a collective of local artists which ran for several years. I then moved to Brighton and continued my brand, learning more upcycling techniques over the years. I have a passion for reclaiming discarded materials and transforming them into something
new and beautiful. I started to run Art and craft workshops, bringing people together for low-pressure creative time. I discovered how much I love facilitating making in the community. So this inspired me to look for a bigger space where I could do this more. So I found this studio on the seafront and it's perfect for my vision.
The Upcycling Centre has 3 sections to it - the front is the shop, where I sell my upcycled pieces. The middle section is my studio space, where you can see my process. And the back is a cosy, creative workshop space. We have a calendar of workshop events, with a range of casual crafting evenings and more specialised skills.
Our focus is sustainability, and encouraging more DIY, showing that making can be for anyone. We also invite other creatives to run their own workshops, to be a part of the community here and share their skills. Head to the workshops page to tell us if you're interested!
We run regular monthly craft workshops designed to bring people together to learn, create, and experiment. From lino printing and screen printing to relaxed craft nights and hands-on creative sessions, our workshops are welcoming, fun, and suitable for all skill levels. Whether you’re trying something new or developing your practice, each session is a chance to slow down, get creative, and connect with a like-minded community.
